When cleaning your valuable Persian Rug – patience is essential. There are no quick fixes and there shouldn’t be when treating your Persian Rug. Often a Persian rug is a family heirloom and worth a great deal more than just money.
Quick Spills:
If you have a small spill, don’t worry- just use a warm, mildly wet rag and dab it on the affected spot quickly to absorb the spil into the rag. Press it on the spot for a few minutes and it should pick up the spill without too much worry. Whatever you do, do not leave the spill to set for more than a few hours, or it will become significantly more difficult to remove and you will probably have to have it professionally cleaned.
Animals:
Animal urine or vomit can be big trouble for your Persian Rug, once again, do not let it set for any period of time. The acid in the urine and vomit can compromise the ink and cause a serious stain or bleeding. If you believe that the stain has been there for more than two hours, it’s time to call Kaoud for a professional treatment.
Unknown Stains:
Many things can cause a stain on your Persian Rug: paint, baby formula, dirt, animals, food – you name it. If you’ve just noticed the stain, try a little laundry detergent and warm water on the stain first. Test it cautiously, be certain that your rug and it’s dyes can handle the application, sometimes a small tool like a tooth brush or small rag will do the trick. Most importantly, go slow and don’t panic. Most stains can be treated with time and patience – if you have neither, step away from the stain and call Kaoud.
Always make sure that you use cold to mildly warm water and simple detergent. DO NOT USE BLEACH. Moisture should be blotted dry between each phase of your cleaning and soap should be removed completely before continuing, use a fan to help speed up the drying process.
