Dear Mr. Kaoud,

I am writing to you to express my appreciation for your employee, Noreen Wolf. Although my message is rather delayed, it is no less sincere.

My mother, Isabelle B, recently relocated to Simsbury this past June. We spent a great deal of time decorating her new home. Quite by chance we met Noreen during a "quick" stop by your Avon store.

Over the ensuing few weeks, my mother and I worked closely with Noreen and purchased several rugs for her new home. We outfitted her living room, two bedrooms, a bathroom, an entrance way, a closet, a long hall and stairs.

I am writing to let you know just how good Noreen is at her job. She did an amazing job suggesting, locating and coordinating our rugs. Noreen was wonderful throughout the process. Over the years, we have done business with Kaouds and specifically Mike Kalsz at Holyoke. He has always been patient, informative,knowledgeable ,friendly, extremely professional and helpful. Recently he suggested we go to West Hartford Kaoud to see several new rugs in an effort to help us to find more choices for the colors we needed. He could have simply tried to have us use the Holyoke store and his services exclusively, but he cared deeply that we receive rugs that suited our needs. He suggested that we meet with Mike Jandreau in West Htfd.who has a wealth of experience.When we arrived our measurements and needs were in Mike Jandreau's hands and he had already found several rugs which we loved. Then both Mike's arrived at our home today, with additonal rugs we needed.Mike J.provided decorating advice upon request which was so helpful. Each Mike went out of his way to make our experience more than we could have hoped for. In this time of high technology, high speed, and instant gratification, at a time when customer service is often treated as being outdated or old fashioned, it is a pleasure to contact you and let you know that at your store, customer satisfaction is not an antiquated or outmoded means of dealing with the public.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011, my wife and I were heading home, riding down !-84, when, on impulse, we decided to visit your store in Manchester. We have often seen the Kaoud advertisements on television, and on a lark, we decided to turn around and find out what was Kaoud Oriental Rugs. Upon entering the store, we were greeted by a salesperson who welcomed us and immediately asked us if he could offer us his assistance. Since we were just looking, we told him that we were interested in purchasing a rug for our bedroom, living room and dining room. We told him the size of the rugs that we required, and he showed us rugs on the wall that fit the dimensions we specified. Then he brought us to two piles of rugs. He very slowly started turning back one rug after another. While we examined other rugs around the room, he left us and went to get Diane Tyler.

Diane came into the salesroom and greeted us with a firm handshake and a smile. She immediately put us at ease. Together the salesman and Diane went rug by rug through three, four-foot-high piles of rugs. Each rug was beautifully hand-crafted and the colors were magnificent. We told Diane that we were just looking for colors and sizes and costs. When we found a rug that we liked for our bedroom, Diane told us that we could take the rug home to see how the rug would look in the room. My wife was in agreement and thought that the taking of the rug home would help us in making a decision. I , on the other hand, did not wish to bring a rug home, since we lived an hour and a quarter away from the store, and I did not want to spend another day returning the rug should we decide not to buy it. Diane was very understanding and most agreeable to my concerns.

Diane then took us to a third pile of rugs. As she and her salesman lifted rug upon rug, my wife and I saw a rug that we both immediately loved. Diane took note as to where the rug was in the pile and she proceeded to go through the rest of the rug pile. Finally, we reversed our procedure and looked at the rugs backwards and again after looking at over 50 rugs, my wife and I saw the rug of our dreams. Diane and her helper took the rug out of the pile and placed it on the floor. The rug had such a beautiful sheen, and as we walked around the rug, we could see both a light and a dark side to the rug. My wife got goose bumps as she walked around the rug, and I felt such a yearning for it, as I stood and examined the rug in the sunlight.

We asked Diane why the price of the rug was so much more expensive than an Oriental rug that we could purchase from the Pottery Barn? She then brought us to another pile of machine-made rugs and showed us the difference. There were rug similar in quality to the Pottery Barn's rugs; they were much less expensive and were by no means as well constructed as the rug we loved. However, Diane was honest with us and told us that the less expensive rug would shed, and would not last a lifetime as would the rug that we so cherished. Our minds were made up. We would buy the rug we loved.

Diane brought us to her desk to offer us financing. It was then that I got cold feet and told Diane that I wanted to take some time to think about the purchase. My wife and I left the store and went for a lunch. Through the course of the lunch we discussed the pros and cons of purchasing a rug at this time. Finally, I felt confident in purchasing a piece of art, a rug made by hand, a future heirloom that would brighten our home and bring warmth to our living quarters. We returned to the store, signed up for the financing and loaded the rug into our car.
Upon arriving home, we carried the rug and the matting to the rug into our living room. We laid out the rug and placed our antique furniture. You would not believe how beautiful the room looks. The rug is the perfect addition to the room. The warmth of the colors highlights the wood of our furniture and the room is everything and more than what we ever could have wanted.
Yet, I digress. The purpose of this letter is to acknowledge the service that Diane Tyler and her staff showed to us. We entered the store having no expectations of buying a rug. She and her staff spent two hours showing us such a wide variety of rugs. She gave us an education in helping us to learn the difference between machine-made rugs and hand-woven rugs. She gave us all the time we needed to think through the financing of the rug. She was professional and pleasant. She made us feel as though we were important to her, and she made us feel as if this purchase was not so much a purchase of a rug, but an investment in a piece of art. She never pressured us into a sale, instead, she answered our questions and did everything within her power to make us feel comfortable with the purchase.

Today, as we sit in the living room with the Oriental rug beneath our feet, my wife and I smile to one another. Diane has made two people very happy, and we look forward to purchasing our next rug from Kaoud. Your business really is, in fact ,all that your advertisements say it is. We even got our 10% Charlie savings.

I love my new rugs more everyday! I was able to use the pad under the larger rug, but the smaller rug became too high and since the door passes over the whole rug I couldn't cut it as you suggested. Mother is the necessity of invention though and I had some of that rubber shelf paper which was thinner and worked perfectly! Thank you for your help. I am so pleased with my purchases!

Just a few words to inform you of a most positive experience my wife and I had when we visited your Manchester store. We had decided to replace an old rug but were not sure of colors and style. Your staff was extremely helpful in suggesting certain rugs and recommended viewing them in our home. Best suggestion made, since (the rugs while all very nice ) some worked better then others. The most interesting occurrence was when one of your staff thought of a particular rug that would look great in our formal dinning room (based on color schemes) and traveled back to the store and returned that evening. Greg and his colleagues were informative, professional and generous in their willingness to answer questions. Beyond this they were true gentlemen. Thanks! I can’t wait to meet you. I do have this story to tell you and you can pass it along to Maurice…. I was desperate to get a new oriental rug for my dining room so I went on line and bought a rug from the internet. This was a rug that was far too big – because I measured wrong but the rug itself was mess – a royal mess!!! I recall Maurice telling me that not all rugs were of the same quality. Not really knowing anything much about these rugs I thought how much difference could there possibly be? Well — I found out what a mess some of these rugs could be – the edges were horrible and it’s just not a good quality – you can see and feel it. I’m sending this rug back but it’s going to cost me almost $300 to return the darn thing. Lesson learned! The prices appeared very favorable so I thought I would take a chance – it was a $300 lesson. I haven’t any idea how the heck I’m going to get this out of my house so it can be shipped back since it weighs a ton – its 10’1″ X 12’8″. What an ugly, expensive mess.
Feel free to share this information with any of your customers – it may save someone the disappointment. I know the rug I bought from Kaoud is beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!

I must tell you what a fantastic experience I had! I wanted to share my experience about the rugs I bought and the wonderful staff you employ…they all were very professional, helpful and were eager to help me with my short and long term goals for my place. My mission was to update and redecorate my town house. I began with the furniture…however, when I wanted to choose fabric for a chair in my office, well I was floundering.

After many hours exploring different fabrics and getting frustrated, I went to your show room with the desire to start with the rugs…which as I now see so clearly, sets the foundation for the room! I choose my desired rug and instantly my office came alive. When I had the foundation of my room set, everything else fell into place. The fabric selection for my desired chair became simple, a variety of paint options are now simplistic and my office has character and charisma. I started looking for the office; however I told them my desire for a new living room rug. We reviewed the floor plan and future placement of my existing space. They were all amazing as I described my existing colors and themes; they guided me with ease to 5 new rugs in total that would necessitate a complimentary color flow.

Without any doubt, I will be back and highly recommend your store based on my experience. In addition, anyone who is thinking of buying a new home or redecorating I would highly encourage to start with the rugs first!! The floor is your foundation for any and all rooms, everything else is easy Start there first!!!

Just want to say thanks again for selecting such a perfect rug for my dining room. This was such a challenge for me since the room has a red toile wallpaper and is right next to my living room – that has my other Kaoud oriental rug with a red field. This was my third rug from Kaoud’s. I could have spent months looking for the right rug but it only took you a few moments to make a perfect selection. My dining room looks gorgeous, rich and comfortable. My friends said my house is stunning and should be in a magazine. Its interesting to note that they had seen my home plenty of times before I bought my rugs so the only change was the addition of these rugs. Obviously they made a significant difference. Please share with others that these beautiful rugs look wonderful in smaller homes also. I’m so pleased.
